Royal blue for the royal family.
Kate Middleton attended a luxe party at Buckingham Palace ahead of Saturday’s coronation, with royals and other VIP guests from around the world sporting their finest ensembles as they celebrated the historic event.
Middleton, 41, wore a Self-Portrait twisted crêpe midi dress ($510) in bold blue to the Friday event.
The rich shade was almost certainly a nod to the UK’s Union Jack, which she previously honored during an outing with Prince William on Thursday.
The Princess of Wales paired the draped dress with her favorite sapphire-and-diamond fringe earrings, which once belonged to the Queen Mother.
The glamorous accessory provided Middleton some shine, as it’s expected she won’t wear a tiara for the actual coronation ceremony.
William, 40, looked smart in a navy suit as he mingled with distinguished guests — including some who didn’t make the guest list for the coronation.
“It will basically be most of the VIP coronation guests plus all those Their Majesties wanted to invite to the ceremony but couldn’t due to the scaled back numbers at the Abbey,” a source told the Daily Mail of the pre-crowning party.
As for Prince Harry, who arrived in the UK earlier Friday, he did not join his family for the affair, with the duke planning to attend tomorrow’s coronation without his wife, Meghan Markle.
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, as well as Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine, showed up to the party to support the king.

US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden also attended the event, wearing a silk floral Tom Ford dress ($1,495) after previously stepping out in head-to-toe hot pink.
The glamorous evening comes ahead of tomorrow’s big day, with the coronation events including a procession through the streets of London before the ceremony starts at 11 a.m. BST (6 a.m. EST).
King Charles and Queen Camilla will ride to Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach — a carriage created for Queen Elizabeth II to mark 60 years on the throne in 2012 — before they’re officially crowned.
