Irina Shayk isn’t sweating this style risk.
The supermodel, 37, looked radiant on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet Monday night, wearing a beautiful white silk archival Yohji Yamamoto gown — and even dared to wear flats to the star-studded soirée.
And Shayk similarly prioritized comfort on the afterparty circuit post-ball, slipping into a white tank top (styled sans bra) and a pair of gray sweatpants and glittery gold boots — and keeping on her Ana Khouri diamond necklaces and earrings from the carpet.
While the Russian beauty certainly would have stood out in any crowd with her decidedly dressed-down look, it’s noteworthy that she opted for loungewear considering how the night’s honoree, Karl Lagerfeld, famously loathed sweats.

In fact, one of Lagerfeld’s most memorable (and controversial) quotes from 2013 specifically decries the stretchy bottoms: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants,” he said.
Whether the superstar has “lost control of her life” or not, she seemed to enjoy her time inside the Met ball — and was even spotted talking to ex Bradley Cooper, with whom she shares 6-year-old daughter Lea.
While Cooper briefly dated Huma Abedin — whom he actually met at the 2022 fête — and Shayk has been linked to Kanye West and Leonardo DiCaprio, Pvnew exclusively reported last year that the former couple were “trying to get pregnant” with a second child.

Perhaps the late Lagerfeld would appreciate the irony of one of the sexiest women alive wearing his least favorite article of clothing to an event in his memory.
After all, the designer also once memorably said, “Everything I say is a joke. I am a joke of myself.”
