“Pre-Recorded with Kelly and Mark.”
“Live with Kelly and Mark” has reportedly been taping episodes as far as two months in advance, according to the US Sun.
On April 26, Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuleos reportedly pre-taped their June 19 episode and the following day, they pre-taped their show that is scheduled to air on June 26.
“The opening monologue for the pre-recorded episodes is very general, like, discussing relationships and Mark and Kelly’s marriage and life with the kids,” an insider told the outlet.
“They did not touch on big news stories, such as Jerry Springer’s death, which broke in the middle of taping on April 27.”
Additionally, The US Sun reports that “Live with Kelly and Mark” has at least five more filming dates scheduled to pre-record episodes.
However, a source close to production told Pvnew that the only reason Ripa and Consuelo are filming ahead of time is that the show, just like every year, will go on hiatus during the summer.
“They really just want to provide as much fresh material as possible for viewers to enjoy over the summer,” the source told us.
“The schedule fluctuates weekly and this is nothing new.”
Pvnew also reached out to ABC for comment but did not immediately hear back.
News that the ABC show is airing pre-recorded episodes is not appeasing longtime fans of the show, who are now threatening to stop watching it altogether.
“Think I’ll skip canned recorded shows that have the nerve to call themselves Live. The show has become a minute fraction of what it once was all to accommodate the self indulgent needs of the hosts,” tweeted one viewer.
“Rename ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ if it’s not going to be Live. Don’t mention ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ as not being Live, at least that is a few hours from recording to air not days like Kelly and Mark,” wrote another critic.
“Live with Kelly and Mark should actually mean ‘live’ and not ‘pre-recorded,'” tweeted a third person.
Last month, Consuelos, 52, joined his wife, also 52, as co-host of the morning show after Ryan Seacrest left “Live with Kelly and Ryan” after six years.
Since the couple’s debut, they have received heavy criticism for showing too much PDA and appearing “uncomfortable” on air together.
The talk show was also slammed by fans for only taping “live” for three days during a week in April.
Despite the negative reviews, a second source told Pvnew that “the first week” of the show “was the best numbers in three years with WABC New York, so clearly, fans love the show.”
