Doja Cat was caught vaping at the 2023 Met Gala — despite Anna Wintour’s strict rule against smoking.
The “Kiss Me More” singer had a vape in her mouth and exhaled a cloud of smoke on camera Monday night as she waited to be interviewed by internet personality Emma Chamberlain on the red carpet at Vogue’s prestigious ball, which this year was held in honor of late Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
Doja — whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini — made her Met debut in a head-turning feline-esque look to resemble Lagerfeld’s famous cat, Choupette.
Her ensemble featured a silver sequined custom Oscar de la Renta gown with a dramatic hood and feathered train. She also wore cat ears and a prosthetic cat nose.
The “Freak” artist, 27, told Interview magazine last month that she had been using “zero nicotine” vapes for “10 weeks.” It’s unclear whether the Met — or Wintour — prohibits that variety of e-cigarette.
Reps for Doja did not immediately respond to Pvnew’s request for comment, though someone familiar with the Grammy winner reiterates to us that there was no nicotine in the device and that it only contained flavored water vapor.
Nevertheless, Wintour, 73, has made it known that smoking is the No. 1 offense for those who make her coveted guest list.
When asked about the “best way to never be invited back again” during a “CBS Mornings” interview that aired earlier Monday, both the Vogue editor-in-chief and museum curator Andrew Bolton responded, “Smoking.”
In the past, guests have been known to shirk the rules by lighting up in the bathroom, which prompted Wintour to add undercover security in 2018.
However, even with security, Cole Sprouse and Luka Sabbat documented themselves smoking in the museum’s restroom in 2019 — while also breaking the no-selfie rule.
Doja ditched vaping in 2022 after undergoing tonsil surgery to remove an abscess caused by the habit.
After being informed that her tonsils were infected, the entertainer admittedly “forgot” to take her antibiotics and proceeded to drink wine and vape “all day long.”
“I started getting a nasty ass growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today,” she explained on Twitter at the time.
