Jada Pinkett Smith shockingly revealed in October 2023 that she and Will Smith had been living separate lives for seven years.
The couple — who wed in 1997 — portrayed a public image for nearly a decade that they were still married despite their separation.
Smith infamously even slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars in defense of Pinkett Smith, telling the comic after a joke about her bald head, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”
However, the “Girls Trip” star shared that she had not been able to actually file for divorce because she and the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” alum “made a promise” to “work through whatever.”
The pair also has a family that includes three adult children, who are in the public eye themselves.
Here’s everything you need to know about Trey, Jayden and Willow Smith.
Trey Smith
Prior to Pinkett Smith, Smith was married to actress Sheree Zampino.
The “Independence Day” star and “Hollywood Exes” alum were married from 1992 to 1995.
They welcomed a son, Trey, on Nov. 11, 1992. Five years later, the small child made an appearance alongside his famous father in the music video for “Just the Two of Us.”
In 2018, Will revealed that he and Trey went through a difficult period when he divorced Zampino.
“We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother,” the “Bad Boys for Life” star admitted on Instagram at the time.
“He felt betrayed & abandoned. It is a Wild Blessing to recover & restore a Loving Relationship with My Beautiful Son! @treysmith0011.”
Trey now lives a quieter life than his younger siblings, but he is still involved in the entertainment business.
He has two songs out on Spotify and has appeared on two episodes of “All of Us,” per IMDb.
Jaden Smith
Jaden is Will and Pinkett Smith’s first child together. He was born on July 8, 1998.
Like his parents, Jaden got bitten by the acting bug at a very young age and landed major roles early on.
He starred in “The Pursuit of Happyness” in 2006 alongside Will, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the dramatic film the following year.
In 2010, Jaden starred in the leading role of Dre Parker in a revamped version of “The Karate Kid.”
He also made his music debut in a song from the film’s soundtrack called “Never Say Never” alongside Justin Bieber.
Jaden has continued acting and making music since. He has over 50 credits under his belt as of 2023, per IMDb, including another film with his dad in 2013 called “After Earth.”
Jaden has also released three studio albums and was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year for his contribution to Bieber’s “Justice” in 2022.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Jaden has also been in the limelight for his personal relationships.
He briefly dated Kylie Jenner in 2013 and was romantically linked to Sofia Richie in 2020, although he claimed at the time that the two were “just homies.”
Willow Smith
Will and Pinkett Smith’s youngest child is Willow Smith. She was born on Oct. 31, 2000.
The couple’s only daughter made her acting debut in 2007 alongside her dad in “I Am Legend.”
However, she gained even more notoriety when she dabbled in the music space.
Her 2010 song, “Whip My Hair,” became a chart-topping hit and is platinum-certified.
Willow is the youngest artist to be signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label and has continued to have a successful music career.
She released a single “Meet Me at Our Spot” as part of the duo The Anxiety with Tyler Cole. The track went viral on TikTok and reached No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Willow also saw success as one of the three hosts of Facebook Watch’s “Red Table Talk” alongside her mom and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, where she engaged in complex discussions about self-harm, polyamory, sexuality and other topics.
