She’s not buying it.
Ana Navarro believes that Jada Pinkett Smith’s shocking revelation that she’s been secretly separated from Will Smith for seven years has financial motivations.
“I think she’s having a relationship with her bank account because every time she needs to increase the ratings of the ‘Red Table [Talk]’, every time she needs to sell books, she drops these bombshells,” the co-host, 51, said on “The View” Wednesday.
“I find it unseemly and I will tell you this, ‘Be careful of anybody who pretends to have a perfect marriage.'”
Navarro’s co-host Sunny Hostin disagreed that Pinkett Smith’s surprising disclosure is a cash grab, pointing out that telling all is what one does in a memoir.
“I think it’s a very brave thing to do, a very courageous thing to do,” the lawyer, 54, said. “I think it has less to do with money. She has plenty of money.”
Pinkett Smith, 52, broke the news of her separation Wednesday in separate interviews with People and NBC, which she did in order to promote her new memoir, “Worthy,” due out Oct. 17.
“We’re still figuring it out,” the “Girls Trip” star told the magazine of her nearly 26-year marriage.
“We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
Pinkett Smith then told Hoda Kotb in a preview for their upcoming sit-down why she hasn’t filed for divorce from Smith, 55.
“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce,” the “Matrix Resurrections” star said. “We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
Navarro’s other “View” co-host Sara Haines sounded off on the daytime talk show about why Pinkett Smith’s public disclosure may be harmful to their kids.
The estranged couple shares two children, Jaden Smith, 25, and Willow Smith, 22. Will also has an older son, Trey Smith, 30, from his first marriage with Sheree Zampino.
Haines, 46, said, “When you hear each of them talk, [it] sounds like there’s so much pain and trauma … I don’t pretend that marriage is perfect but you are the example to your children of what love and loving relationships look like.”
Will has not yet spoken out on his estranged wife’s revelations in the press and her new book.
