Following on “Alba,” one of Spain’s biggest recent Netflix hits, star Elena Rivera, Spanish network Atresmedia and Madrid-based production powerhouse Boomerang TV will reteam on “Perdiendo el juicio,” a 10-episode drama which will go into production this summer.

Set to air on Antena 3, Atresmedia’s most-watched free-to-air channel, and its streaming service Atresplayer, “Perdiendo el Juicio” production is led by executive producer Luis Santamaría and Montse García, Atresmedia director of Fiction, both of whom were behind “Alba.”

“Alba” scribes Susana López Rubio and Javier Holgado also repeat on “Perdiendo el juicio,” where they are joined by Jaime Olías (“Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda”).Led by Star Elena Rivera, Team Behind Global Hit ‘Alba’ Back for Atresmedia’s ‘Perdiendo el Juicio’

A legal drama like “Alba,” but of a completely different tenor, “Perdiendo el juicio” stars Rivera as a high-flying lawyer who suffers a massive OCD outbreak during a crucial case.

Obliged to downgrade from her hard-driving company to a law firm of under-achievers now on its last legs, though she is married, she begins to feel attracted to her new boss…

“Perdiendo el juicio” – which in Spanish can mean “Losing the Case” or “Going Out of One’s Mind” – is currently in pre-production, completing its key cast.

Adapting Turkish series “Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?” breaking it down to a 13-part skein, rape case courtroom drama “Alba” –which drew comparisons to “Unbelievable” – proved the most-watched primetime series of 2022 in Spain and the highest-rating Spanish series on Antena 3 since 2019.

Bowing on Netflix on July 2022, “Alba” saw a six-week run in its non-English global Top 10, chalking up 151.71 million viewing hours, while hitting local Top 10s in over 70 countries around the world, including the U.S. and U.K.

After “Alba,” Atresmedia and Boomerang TV have reunited for “Entre Tierras,” the most-watched series from commercial broadcasters this 2023-24 season, and a hit for Netflix in Latin America –making the Atresmedia-Boomerang alliance one of the most productive of production axes in Spanish TV.
