Netflix’s fantasy series “The Witcher” has been renewed for Season 5, which will be the end of the series, the streamer announced Thursday morning. It also confirmed that Season 4 is now in production, and it will film back to back with Season 5.
Season 4 will be the first with Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as lead character, Geralt of Rivia. Netflix announced in October 2022 that Cavill would be departing the show after the third season, which aired in summer 2023 in two parts.
Netflix released a short video of the Season 4 table read, which included Hemsworth and cast members Anya Chalotraasthe sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg,Freya AllanasGeralt’s ward Ciri and Joey BateyasJaskier the bard, Cassie Clareas the witch Philippa Eilhart and Mahesh Jaduas the mageVilgefortz of Roggeveen.

When Cavill surprised fans and announced he’d be leaving “The Witcher,” he wrote in a statement, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into ‘The Witcher’ world.”
