Netflix has set “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in L.A.,” a six-episode show featuring field pieces and special guests that will stream live during the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival.
Per the logline, the show follows Mulaney as he “explores the city of Los Angeles during a week when every funny person is in it.” The first episode debuts on May 3 at 7 p.m., with new installments airing nightly May 6-10.
In a teaser for “Everybody’s in L.A.,” several Angelenos take turns helping to describe the show.
“John Mulaney explores the city of Los Angeles with his comedian friends, featuring people equal to, but not necessarily, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and David Letterman,” they say in a succession of clips shot around the city. “No one is confirmed yet, but a lot of people are in play. Everyone who passed did it in a nice, very funny way. It’s a celebration of L.A. We’ll have music. We’ll have one of those delivery robots, fingers crossed. We’ll have local L.A. county officials talking to the biggest names in comedy.”
Mulaney hosts “Everybody’s in L.A.” and serves as creator and executive producer through his Multiple Camera Productions banner. He co-showruns with Ashley Edens, who also executive produces. Dave Ferguson is the head writer.
Mulaney’s previous Netflix projects include the standup specials “Baby J,” “Kid Gorgeous” and “The Comeback Kid” as well as the variety special “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch.”
Netflix Is a Joke Fest takes place in multiple venues across Los Angeles from May 1 to May 12. Mulaney will perform a standup show as part of the festival on May 4 at the Hollywood Bowl.
