Aaron Rodgers has addressed the comments he made about Jimmy Kimmel last week after he suggested that the comedian had connections to Jeffrey Epstein during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Last week, the New York Jets quarterback discussed the list of Epstein associates that was unsealed in court. The documents contained the names of people who allegedly had ties to the late sex offender.
“There’s a lot of people, includingJimmy Kimmel, really hoping that doesn’t come out,“ Rodgers said on last Tuesday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.” “If that lists comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.”
After his longstanding, public feud with Kimmel blew up over the past week, Rodgers returned to “The Pat McAfee Show” to address his comments, saying they were blown out of proportion and misconstrued.
“I still haven’t popped a bottle because there hasn’t been any list that’s come out,” he said. “I’m glad Jimmy is not on the list. I really am. I don’t think he’s the P-word.”
Kimmel fired back at Rodgers on X last week writing, “Dear Asshole: for the record, I’ve not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any ‘list’ other than the clearly-phony nonsense that soft-brained wackos like yourself can’t seem to distinguish from reality. Your reckless words put my family in danger. Keep it up and we will debate the facts further in court.”
He addressed Rodgers’ comments Monday night on his late-night show, calling the quarterback a “hamster-brained man” who “thinks he knows what the government is up to because he’s a quarterback doing research on YouTube and listening to podcasts.” However, he said that if Rodgers apologized, he would accept it and move on from their feud. In previous years, Kimmel has joked about Rodgers’ “immunization” status and vaccine conspiracy theories on his show.
Rodgers didn’t quite apologize to Kimmel and fired off one last joke at his expense, but said he is open to “moving forward.”
“It’s impressive that a man who went to Arizona State and has 10 joke writers can read off a prompter,” Rodgers quipped. “My education at [junior college] and my three semesters at Cal, that I’m very proud of, has worked out for me and I’m glad to see it’s worked out for him as well. I wish him the best. Again, I don’t give a shit what he says about me. As long as he understands what I actually said and that I’m not accusing him of being on a list, then I’m all for moving forward.”
Radio host Howard Stern also weighed in on the feud and defended Kimmel on Tuesday, saying “What the fuck is with Aaron Rodgers? What a fucking vicious thing to say. You know what it is? When someone’s not witty and they’re in a feud with someone, nowadays what they do is they just make up shit about you. They make up a conspiracy theory. Fucking outrageous.”
