Dick Wolf to Produce Netflix Docuseries ‘Homicide: New York’ & ‘Homicide: Los Angeles’

Dick Wolf is making his first foray into business with Netflix with a pair of true crime docuseries.

The creator of “Law & Order” and Wolf Entertainment have partnered with Alfred Street Industries on both “Homicide: New York” and “Homicide: Los Angeles.” Both shows will consist of five episodes each, with each episode documenting a different murder case in each city.

The official description states that the show “illuminates the stories of notorious murder cases as told by the people who know them best: the detectives and prosecutors who cracked them.”

“Homicide: New York” will debut on March 20, while “Homicide: Los Angeles” will bow at later date this year.

Wolf executive produces along with Tom Thayer, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, and Adam Kassen.

Wolf is one of the most successful television producers of all time, though he has made virtually no streaming shows to date. Wolf Entertainment currently has the cop drama “On Call” starring Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente in the works at Amazon Prime Video, with that show recently wrapping production. Wolf, who is currently under a massive overall deal at his longtime home Universal Television, has also developed projects for NBCUniversal streamer Peacock, though none have gone forward.

Aside from the original “Law & Order,” which returned to NBC in 2022, Wolf currently has the shows “Law & Order: SVU,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Med,” “FBI,” “FBI: Most Wanted,” and “FBI: International” on the air.

Alfred Street Industries was launched in 2019 by Cutforth and Lipsitz. They have produced unscripted shows like “Is It Cake?,” “Best in Dough,” “Project Runway,” “Chrissy’s Court,” and “Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo.”
