Lil Wayne, Jill Scott and André 3000 are just a few of the artists on deck for The Roots’ annual Roots Picnic 2024.
The event, taking place on June 1-2 at Philadelphia’s The Mann in Fairmount Park, features a robust lineup of musicians including Nas, Gunna, Victoria Monét, Sexyy Red, Babyface, Cam’Ron, Smino, Wale, Tyla and Robert Glasper with Yebba.
Special performances are on tap from Wayne, who will join the Roots in a celebration of New Orleans with special guests PJ Morton and Trombone Shorty, as well as J. Period’s Live Mixtape alongside Black Thought, Method Man and Redman. Elsewhere, Adam Blackstone will stage his Legacy Experience with Fantasia and Muni Long, while Baller alert will present its Backyard Band featuring Scarface and Amerie.
Roots Picnic will also play host to its regular podcast stage, renamed Parkside stage. Attendees can witness live podcasts and DJs including Juan Epstein Podcast, Million Dollaz Worth of Game, World Series of Spades and more.
The festival announcement comes in the wake of last year’s event in Philly, where Lauryn Hill and her Fugees band mates Wyclef Jean and Pras staged a surprise mini-reunion. Additional performances came from Usher, GloRilla and the Isley Brothers. Since its founding in 2008, Roots Picnic has largely been staged in Philly, but this year plans to expand to the west coast with Roots Picnic: Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life, taking place at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on June 29. The Roots will headline the evening and will be joined by Queen Latifah, Common, Digable Planets, Arrested Development and more.
Presale tickets for Roots Picnic 2024 will be available starting on February 20 at 10 a.m. ET, while general sale begins on February 23 at 10 a.m. ET.
