‘The Bear’ Season 3 Will Premiere in June

“The Bear” will return for its third season in June.

The news was announced by FX chairman John Landgraf during the network’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2024 press tour. Landgraf had little detail to share about the season, however — when asked if he could share whether the show would bring in as many high profile guest stars as it did in Season 2, he joked, “Unfortunately, I can’t. I was surprised as you were when the Christmas episode came through the door.”

Landgraf did, however, speak on release strategy for the show, saying he had “no doubt” that Hulu will continue to release all episodes on one day rather than week-to-week. “It wasn’t lost on me or anyone who worked on the show that it was anxiety-inducing,” he said. “So we made a decision to drop the whole thing because it has a beautiful, uplifting ending.”

“The Bear” has been a massive hit for FX. Along with reaching a sizable audience with both seasons, Season 1 took home 10 trophies at last month’s strike-delayed Emmy ceremonies, including the awards for best comedy series, lead comedy actor (Jeremy Allen White), supporting comedy actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and supporting comedy actress (Ayo Edebiri). And Season 2 has already begun picking up awards: White, Edebiri and the series overall took home top honors at both the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, and Moss-Bachrach also took home a Critics Choice Award.

Speaking to PvNew in December, White said that he had not yet read any scripts but was soon beginning preparation for Season 3: “I do know in January I’m going to spend a fair amount of time getting together with some chefs. There’ll be a menu set, I believe, that’s going to be for the restaurant in the third season. And I know that I’m going to start putting together that menu with different chefs. We all did a lot of preparation before the first season. I went to culinary school and I spent a lot of time in restaurants. And then, for the second season, so much of it was about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t that much cooking. But now, in the third season, I think we’re going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first.”
