Disney EMEA’s longtime leading legal counsel Peter Wiley has stepped down after 27 years.

Wiley has been chief international counsel and chief regional counsel for EMEA, based in London, U.K., since 2005. In his role, he led Disney EMEA’s function across international, including overseeing all legal and regulatory matters impacting the company across EMEA. He reported to DMED deputy general counsel Linda Bagley, and his last line manager was Dorothy Attwood. From 2015 to 2020, Wiley supervised Disney’s legal functions in APAC and Latin America in addition to EMEA, before returning to focusing solely on EMEA in 2020.

Prior to joining Disney he worked as a lawyer at London law firm Frere Cholmeley Bischoff where he qualified in 1993. Wiley earned a BA in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of Oxford. It is unclear what Wiley plans to do next.

He has been replaced by Nikki Keat, who has also been at the company for 27 years, most recently as deputy chief counsel for international consumer products for MENA and Africa. Keat is currently based in Paris, France but will relocate to London for the role.

Jan Koeppen, president of the Walt Disney Company EMEA, said in a statement: “Peter has made an incredible contribution to the company over the past 27 years and has been a trusted partner to many of us in EMEA. He has been an exceptional colleague over the course of his Disney career and we wish Peter only the best for what comes next and look forward to working with Nikki in her new role.”
