‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Taps John Shiban as Season 4 Showrunner

There’s been another showrunner shakeup in the “Law & Order” universe. John Shiban has been named new showrunner of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” ahead of the show’s Season 4 premiere marking the seventh showrunner to steer the series. The series is set to air in midseason.

As PvNew previously reported, Season 3 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was first run by Sean Jablonski then later “SVU” showrunner David Graziano. Barry O’Brien, Bryan Goluboff, Ilene Chaiken and Matt Olmstead previously held the title.

Shiban previously spent the last three seasons as an executive producer on “Ozark,” where he earned an Emmy and a WGA Award for writing the episode “Boss Fight.” He recently was under an overall deal at Sony Television while serving as showrunner and executive producer of the Hulu series “Shut Eye.”

Shiban began his career as a staff writer on “The X-Files.” During his stint on the celebrated Fox series, he wrote or co-wrote over 20 episodes and served as executive producer by the end of its nine-year run. He earned an Emmy nomination for his work on “The X-Files.” As a producer, Shiban has also been honored with a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Dramatic Series for his work on the show. His other credits include “Breaking Bad,” “Da Vinci’s Demons,” “Hell on Wheels,” “Vampire Diaries” and the long-running hit “Supernatural.”

“Law & Order: Organized Crime,” which stars Christopher Meloni, is executive produced by, Dick Wolf, John Shiban, Paul Cabbad, Christopher Meloni, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
