Fire Breaks Out on Warner Bros. Lot, No Injuries Reported as Firemen Put Out the Blaze

An electrical fire at Warner Bros. left a cloud of smoke billowing over the Burbank lot, but luckily firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze. There were no injuries, according to an individual familiar with the incident.

The fire was first reported by the Citizen app, which had video of the plume of smoke, as well as a caption that said, “Firefighters report a burning transformer and are working to contain the blaze.” The post also said that, “Firefighters report that a power outage has occurred after an explosive sound.”

The fire started around 1:30 p.m. PT, as black smoke quickly gathered in the air. The blaze caused traffic to slow down outside the studio.

The electrical fire appears to have been caused by a power transformer that exploded. There is no evidence that the blaze was the result of arson or foul play. The fire department on the Warners lot got the fire under control. Members of the Burbank Fire Departmentsoon arrived, but the blaze had been extinguished by the time they appeared on the scene. The Burbank lot experienced a partial power outage.

It’s unclear how much damage was sustained, but it appears to have been minimal and contained to the building on the lot where the fire started.

Twitter users near the scene posted pictures of the fire to social media.

The Warner Bros. Burbank lot consists of a 110-acre main lot as well as a 32-acre Ranch facility, which has 36 soundstages and 14 exterior sets.
