A24 has released the first trailer for Sofia Coppola‘s “Priscilla.”
based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me,” the biographical film follows her life and relationship with the King of Rock ‘n Roll. Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown,” “Bad Times at the El Royale”) stars as Priscilla, with Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria,” “The Kissing Booth”) as Elvis Presley.
Spaeny and Elordi are the latest stars to play Priscilla and Elvis Presley on screen. Olivia DeJonge and Austin Butler played the lead roles in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biographical music drama “Elvis,” which scored two Golden Globe nominations and one win for Butler’s performance as the iconic singer. The film went on to earn Oscar nominations for best picture, best actor and more.
“Priscilla” marks Coppola’s third collaboration with A24, following 2020’s “On the Rocks” and 2013’s “The Bling Ring.” A series adaptation of Edith Wharton’s “The Custom of the Country” is also in development between A24 and Coppola.
Several of Coppola’s longtime collaborators — including cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, costume designer Stacey Battat, editor Sarah Flack and production designer Tamara Deverell — are attached to the project.
“Priscilla” is directed and written by Coppola, who serves as a producer alongside Youree Henry, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope. The production is financed by The Apartment and Sony’s Stage 6 Films.
A24 will distribute “Priscilla” in North America, with Vision Distribution handling distribution in Italy, where it will become a Sky exclusive. Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing will distribute in the rest of the world.
