Netflix’s docuseries chronicling Johnny Depp’s widely publicized defamation case against his former wife, Amber Heard, opened at No. 1 on the English-Language TV chart on Netflix’s Top 10. During the Aug 14-20 viewing window, the series earned 16.2 million total views. The strong debut pushed the documentary ahead of “Painkiller,” which previously debuted to 7.2 million total views following its Aug. 10 premiere. In its second week of availability, the limited series earned 10.9 million views.
“Extraction 2,” starring Chris Hemsworth, broke onto the Most Popular list at No. 10 with 129.3 million views in the first 66 days since launch, making it the first film franchise to land two films on the Most Popular list simultaneously. It also marks the third AGBO film to join the list after “The Gray Man.” The first installment currently sits at No. 9 with 135.7M views in its first 91 days.
Coming in third on the TV list is “Ballers” Season 1, which joined the streaming service on Aug. 15, with 3.9 million views. With a runtime of 4.42 hours, the opening season picked up 18.4 million hours viewed. All five seasons of the HBO series are currently available for streaming on the service. The move comes as the latest show to join Netflixas part of the company’s newlicensing deal with WBD. The first HBO original to transfer over to the streamer was “Insecure.”
On the unscripted side, “At Home with the Furys” cracked the chart at No. 4 with 3.3 million total views. According to the show’s official description, the docusoap follows “undefeated heavyweight champion Tyson Fury retires from boxing to embrace the eccentricities of family life.”
After previously earning second place on the list, “The Lincoln Lawyer” Season 2 fell to fifth place among the popular titles. During the viewing window, the second installment raked in another 2.9 million total views following the release of part 2, which previously pushed the procedural back to the top during the week of July 31-Aug. 6.
In its second week of availability, “Gabby’s Dollhouse” Season 8 managed to land just below “The Lincoln Lawyer” Season 2 with 2.6 million total views — overtaking “The Witcher” Season 3, which brought in an additional 1.9 million total views in its eighth week on the Top 10.
The final three titles landed in a three-way tie in terms of total views with 1.8 million: “The Upshaws” Part 4, “Mesh Cadets,” and “Heartstopper” Season 2.
