Sundance-Winning Filmmaker A.V. Rockwell Signs with Prettybird – Film News in Brief

Prettybird has announced A.V. Rockwell signed with the commercial and music video representation company. Rockwell’s feature film debut, “A Thousand and One,” won the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the 2023 Sundance film festival. Prior to her feature film, Rockwell directed for television, and her award-winning short film “Feathers” was released by Searchlight Pictures and is now available to stream on the Criterion Channel.

Rockwell joins Prettybird’s award-winning roster of filmmakers, including “Everything Everywhere All At Once” Academy Award-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (also known as “The Daniels”), Janicza Bravo (“Zola”) and comedy duo Tim & Eric.

“I am so excited to have A.V. join the roster. I have been following her work for years and have always been in awe of her ability to tell stories rooted in truth with intensity and intimacy – in both her written and visual language. She is a force in every way who is only beginning to unleash her power,” said Prettybird president, Ali Brown.

Nancy Baker Cahill Partners With Cosm to Create ‘SEEK’ For ‘Shared Reality,’ a New Immersive Art Experience

Nancy Baker Cahill announced a new partnership with technology, media and entertainment company Cosm, to create “SEEK” for Cosm’s new immersive art experience, “Shared Reality.”

Baker Cahill’s new visual narrative piece, “SEEK”, is a Cosm Studios original, and was created exclusively for Cosm. “SEEK” will dissolve the interface between the viewer, lens and content, and per the press release, “Audiences will be asked to ‘seek’ in both the literal and philosophical sense: to discern, grapple with, and imagine interconnected and entangled worlds.” The interactive experience will invite audiences to take a journey within abstract landscapes through both camouflaged imagery and sound.

“My work signals the direct connection between drawing and cinema, much of which will be present in the piece. Cosm’s cutting-edge LED canvas provides a contemporary iteration of the cave, only in this case, at scale, with a state-of-the-art sound system, and an unprecedented ability to play with light and moving image,” said Baker Cahill. “[Cosm] is completely enhancing how we, as audiences, can experience immersive art without the need to outsource imagination, and I am thrilled to work together to redefine and push the standard of multi-sensory storytelling in an entirely new format.”

The first exhibit will open in Los Angeles in Spring 2024.
