Billie Eilish is ready for more close-ups.
The Oscar and Grammy-winning music superstar tells me she’d love to do more acting following her TV debut in “Swarm.”
“I like it!” Eilish said Thursday at the opening night gala of the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
When asked what kind of roles she’d like to tackle, Eilish laughed, “I don’t know.” When I suggested a “badass action” movie, she replied, “Sure. Some soldiers in it.”
Eilish and her brother and music collaborator Finneas O’Connell were on hand at the festival to receive this year’s Chairman’s Award for their “Barbie” single, “What Was I Made For.”
Also on the carpet, “The Color Purple” star Danielle Brooks said she’s hoping that she becomes fast friends with Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence so they can star in a movie together.
“Three badass women,” Brooks said. “We’re rockstars. We have a band and we go to Palm Springs and we have to get ready for one of the girls’ brothers getting married. And that’s going to be played by Jack Black – we’re doing ‘Minecraft’ together so he’s the first person who came to mind.”
“He’s getting married,” she said before bursting out in laughter. “I have no idea where this story is going to go.”
Brooks was also an honoree at the festival gala, being recognized with the Spotlight Award-Actress for her work as Harpo in “The Color Purple.” She said she hasn’t gotten used to all the accolades she’s earned. “I’m humbled,” she said. “I’ve studied. I went to Juilliard for four years and banged out seven years of ‘Orange Is the New Black.’ Been doing guest spots and ‘Peacemaker’ and Broadway.”
