Daredevil is back and born again.

Marvel debuted the first footage for “Daredevil: Born Again” at D23 in Anaheim on Friday night, starring Charlie Cox in his first solo series since the original “Daredevil” Netflix show in the 2010s. The series’ March release date was also revealed.

In addition to Cox returning as the blind lawyer turned crime fighter, “Daredevil: Born Again” brings back Vincent D’onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin; Jon Bernthal as the Punisher; Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page; Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson; and Wilson Bethel as Poindexter. The cast’s newcomers include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Jeremy Earl and and Ayelet Zurer, who takes over the role of Vanessa Marianna-Fisk from Sandrine Holt in the original series.‘Daredevil: Born Again’ First Footage: Punisher, Kingpin and More Return; March Premiere Set

Cox, D’Onofrio, Bernthal and Woll all appeared at the panel to debut the trailer, which was not immediately made available for fans to watch online. The footage showed the violent scope of the series, with Daredevil grimly musing, “Somebody’s gotta protect the streets” and “New York is what it’s always been: Out for blood.”

It was also announced at the panel that the second season would start filming soon.

“Daredevil: Born Again” follows the three-season Netflix show, which was created by Drew Goddard and ran from 2015 to 2018. The series — along with its sister shows “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” “The Defenders” and “The Punisher” — were removed from Netflix and added to Disney+ in 2022. They marked the first mature TV series added to Disney+, and the streamer enacted an age-restriction feature for younger viewers.

Originally conceived as Marvel’s first 18-episode series, “Daredevil: Born Again” underwent a major creative re-haul, which lowered its episode count to a traditional Disney+ show.

Cox and D’onofrio have appeared in other MCU projects after the cancellation of the original Netflix series. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” featured a brief cameo from Cox as Murdock, while D’onofrio served as one of the main villains in the “Hawkeye” and “Echo” series. Cox also reappeared in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and briefly in “Echo.”
