Animation veterans Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde have teamed to launch a podcast studio, Bellport Theater on the Air, focusing on scripted, episodic content revolving around supernatural thrillers and genre fiction.
Bellport Theater’s first podcast series, “The Department of Midnight,” will be released Aug. 20. Created by author and comic book creator Warren Ellis, the six-episode series stars “Battlestar Galactica” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary” alum James Callis and features Alicia Witt and Carla Gugino.
Podcasts from Bellport Theater on the Air will be made available on all major podcast apps and platforms.

Although Kolde and Seibert have been longtime collaborators on a range of animated projects, Bellport Theater marks the pair’s first audio project together. The venture comes as podcasting and audio entertainment grows significantly as a media category. Kolde and Seibert are no stranger to startups and it’s no surprise their entrepreneurial eye would turn to the podcasting realm.
“I’m no stranger to taking on challenges that face the entertainment industry,” Seibert said in a statement. “But with the launch of the Bellport Theater On The Air, it will allow us to more easily tap into a space that has growth potential, not only benefitting the creators in making their stories more accessible, but also giving audiences what they crave – engaging new audio content.”
Kolde added: “I strongly believe that there are so many amazing storytellers that need to have their creativity and voices heard. With a roster of incredible projects in development at this time, we could not be more thrilled to take the leap into the audio space. We are looking forward to bringing to life new characters and worlds that listeners will enjoy.”
Seibert has served as executive producer for Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time” and “Bravest Warriors,” Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly Oddparents,” and more. Kolde shepherded Netflix’s “Castlevania” animated universe, serving as co-showrunner and executive producing the original “Castlevania” along with its spinoff, “Castlevania: Nocturne.” He also worked on shows like “Adventure Time,” “Bravest Warriors” and more.
Bellport Theater has also tapped Brian Gucciardo for business affairs and seasoned production manager Diane Kolde to round out the studio’s launch team.
