Dori Media Launches Sales Office in India, Taps Devdatta Potnis to Run It

Multinational studio Dori Media Group (DMG) is expanding its global reach, opening its first sales office in the lucrative market of India where it has tapped media exec Devdatta Potnisto run it.

The studio behind such international hits as“In Treatment,” “Losing Alice,” “Lalola,” “The New Black”and“Power Couple”already has outposts in Israel, Spain, Switzerland and Argentina.

A seasoned media exec with close to 20 years of experience in the Indian media content biz, Potnis most recently served as CEO of Animeta, an India-based Gen AI tech startup. His experience also covers multiple sectors of the media industry, including production, finance, marketing and development. Prior to joining Cosmos-Maya, Potnis served as chief manager, marketing & communications, for Reliance MediaWorks Ltd.

He’s also been associate vice president, marketing at Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd. and head of sales & marketing for Maya Digital Studios.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Devdatta’s tremendous industry experience joining our team at Dori Media and helping us further expand our global sales reach,” said Nadav Palti, CEO & President of Dori Media Group. “We’ve been successfully selling content in India for years now and the dynamic growth that we’ve seen in that marketplace recently made it a no-brainer for us to open an office in Mumbai,” he added.

Potnis concurred: “Dori Media has a world-class catalogue of programming and produces and distributes many of the top hits in our industry, series often filled with powerful human emotions that resonate with audiences and win hearts globally, including here in India. DMG’s upcoming sales lineup includes two high-octane dramatic series, “Amia” and “Indal.”

Filmed in Uruguay and Argentina, “Amia” was inspired by the terror attacks of 1992 on the Israeli embassy and 1994 against the Argentinian Jewish community.

“Indal”follows the kidnapping of a police officer by a band of Ethiopian Israeli youth, triggering a national protest.

Dori Media recently revealed that it would be selling the new Spanish-language episodes of “Lalola,” which premiered in February on Spanish-language platform, ViX. They are also offering the series’ format rights for global markets beyond Latin America and the U.S. Produced by Dori Media International, “Lalola” is a contemporary remake of the popular romantic comedy that was nominated for an International Emmy and originally aired from 2008 to 2009. In it, Lalo, a womanizer, gets turned into a woman, Lola, who seeks to reverse the spell.
