Justin Timberlake Pleads Not Guilty, License Suspended During DWI Arrest Hearing

Justin Timberlake has pleaded not guilty and his license was suspended earlier today after a virtual hearing related to his DWI charge in June.

The pop singer, who’s currently on his Forget Tomorrow world tour in Europe, was initially arrested in Long Island on June 18 after police arrested him and said he was driving erratically. He attended the hearing on a video conference from Antwerp, Belgium. Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace suspended his license after he refused to take a breathalyzer test during the arrest, and it’s unclear how long the suspension will last.

“The facts remain he was not intoxicated,” maintained Timberlake’s attorney Edward Burke Jr. during the hearing. “I’ll say it again: Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated and we’re very confident that charge, that criminal charge, will be dismissed.”Justin Timberlake Pleads Not Guilty, License Suspended During DWI Arrest Hearing

In addition to suspending Timberlake’s license, Justice Irace threatened Burke with a gag order for “irresponsible” remarks to the media, stating that it “comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins.”

Timberlake was arrested after claiming he had one martini prior to being pulled over. According to the arrest complaint, he smelled of alcohol, had slowed speech and poorly performed on field sobriety tests. At the time of his arrest, Burke said, “I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations. I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.”

The next hearing is set for Aug. 9, which he does not have to attend, followed by another on Sept. 13, which he may have to attend.
