Claire Cavalheiro and Scott Anthony Cavalheiro are producing under their Stained Tie Films banner, with Gerry Lattmann of The Dot Film Company serving as line producer. Claire Cavalheiro also takes on the role of executive producer.
Cavalheiro, who also wrote the script, describes the project: “I wanted to make a movie that I’d watch. It has its foot on the gas from the hop but also has a flair of absurdity that is really exciting to me. Plus, I do it all with my wife and close friends. I’m excited for audiences to see what Canadian independent cinema can be.”
The production marks Cavalheiro’s transition from acting to directing, following his on-screen career that includes roles in “Anything for Jackson” and “Good Witch” alongside his “Schitt’s Creek” appearance.
The production team boasts industry veterans, including Andrew Appelle (“In a Violent Nature”) as director of photography, Craig Harris (“Possessor”) as production designer, and Derek Liscoumb (“Code 8”) overseeing special effects.
The film is slated for a 2025 release.
