The sixth and final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” has set its premiere date at FX.
The comedy series will debut its final season on Oct. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT with the first three of its 11 episodes with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu. It will be available to stream internationally on Disney+ at a later date.
The official description of the season states, “After a very brief stint as a full-blown vampire, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is re-evaluating his life. Who is he if not a familiar who will do anything to please his Master in hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are reevaluating, too. When their former roommate reappears after a 50-year nap, they realize how little they’ve done in half a century — not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except for their street and part of Ashley Street).”

Along with Guillén, the series stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch, and Kristen Schaal.
The premiere date news comes less than a week after the series was nominated for eight Emmy Awards, including one for best comedy series and another for best actor in a comedy series for Berry. It also comes just ahead of the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Berry, Novak, Proksch, and Schaal will appear alongside series writer and executive producer Paul Simms and executive producer and director Kyle Newacheck at Hall H beginning at 3:30 p.m. PT.
“What We Do in the Shadows” is based on the 2014 mockumentary film of the same name. It originally debuted on FX in 2019 and has been a critical and ratings success for the network. Jemaine Clement is the credited creator of the series and executive produces with Taika Waititi, with the duo having created the original film. Simms executive produces along with Sam Johnson, Sarah Naftalis, Yana Gorskaya, Newacheck, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. FX Productions is the studio.
