Prime Video‘s “Panchayat” Season 3 was the most viewed show in India in the first half of 2024, according to a mid-year report by Ormax Media. The rural comedy-drama yoked in 28.2 million viewers.
Netflix‘s “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” secured the second spot with 20.3 million viewers, while Prime Video’s “Indian Police Force” came in third with 19.5 million viewers. Netflix continued its strong showing with “Kota Factory” Season 3 attracting 15.7 million viewers in fourth place, followed by Disney+ Hotstar’s “The Legend of Hanuman” Seasons 3 and 4, with 14.8 million viewers.
In the Hindi-language direct-to-streaming films category, Netflix dominated the top five with “Amar Singh Chamkila” leading at 12.9 million viewers, followed by “Murder Mubarak” at 12.2 million. Prime Video’s “Ae Watan Mere Watan” secured the third spot with 11.5 million viewers, while Netflix’s “Maharaj” and Disney+ Hotstar’s “Patna Shuklla” rounded out the top five with 10.6 million and 9.8 million viewers respectively.

JioCinema’s “Bigg Boss OTT” Season 3 clinched the top position as the most-watched Indian unscripted show on streaming, with 17.8 million viewers. Netflix’s “The Great Indian Kapil Show” followed at 14.5 million, while SonyLIV’s “Shark Tank India” Season 3 attracted 12.5 million viewers. JioCinema’s “Ram Janmabhoomi – Return of a Splendid Sun” and Netflix’s “The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth” completed the top five with 10 million and 6.4 million viewers respectively.
Prime Video’s “Kalki 2898 AD” prequel animated series “B&B: Bujji and Bhairava” led the Telugu-language category with 4.9 million viewers, followed by ETV Win’s “90’s – A Middle Class Biopic” at 3.8 million. Disney+ Hotstar’s “Miss Perfect,” ZEE5’s “Special Investigation Team” and Aha’s “Bhamakalapam 2” rounded out the top five.
For Tamil-language content, Prime Video’s “Inspector Rishi” topped the list with 4.9 million viewers, followed by Disney+ Hotstar’s “Heart Beat” at 3.3 million. Disney+ Hotstar’s “Uppu Puli Kaaram,” JioCinema’s “Pon ondru Kanden” and SonyLIV’s “MasterChef India Tamil” Season 2 completed the top five.
International content continued to draw Indian viewers, with Prime Video’s “The Boys” Season 4 emerging as the most-watched international show at 10.5 million viewers. JioCinema’s “House of the Dragon” Season 2 followed at 8.2 million, while Prime Video’s “Fallout” secured the third spot with 8 million viewers. Netflix’s “3 Body Problem” and “Bridgerton” Season 3 rounded out the top five with 6.9 million and 6.6 million viewers, respectively.
The report also highlighted content strength using Ormax Power Ratings (OPR), a score on a 0-100 scale that represents how much a show or a film is liked by its viewers. In the Hindi-language series category, “Panchayat” Season 3 maintained its lead with an OPR of 77, followed by “Kota Factory” Season 3 and “The Legend Of Hanuman,” Seasons 3 and 4 both scoring 72. SonyLIV’s “Gullak” Season 4 and “Shark Tank India” Season 3 completed the top 5 with scores of 67 and 63 respectively.
For Hindi-language films, Netflix’s “Amar Singh Chamkila” led with an OPR of 64, followed by “Maharaj” and “Bhakshak,” both at 62. “90’s – A Middle Class Biopic” and “Inspector Rishi” topped the Telugu and Tamil-language categories with 83 and 64 respectively.
In the international category, “House of the Dragon” Season 2 topped the OPR list with a score of 72, while Prime Video’s “The Boys” Season 4 and Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” tied for second place with 68. Netflix’s “Spaceman” and Prime Video’s “Invincible” Season 2 rounded out the top five with scores of 62 and 61 respectively.
