Your favorite imaginary friends are coming to streaming. “IF” will be available to watch on Paramount+ on July 9.
STREAM ‘IF’ ON PARAMOUNT+The film, released in May, follows a young girl named Bea (Cailey Fleming) who’s going through a hard time as her dad (John Krasinski) is in the hospital. Bea has a special power though: She can see imaginary friends, and so can her neighbor, Cal (Ryan Reynolds). Together, the two pair up to connect kids with their long-lost imaginary friends (IFs, for short).
“IF” was written and directed by Krasinski in a shift in genres for the filmmaker following his hugely successful horror films “A Quiet Place” and “A Quiet Place Part II.” Steve Carell, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Bradley Cooper, George Clooney and Jon Stewart all lend their voices to the IFs.

The movie received mixed reviews from fans and critics, it earned a 49% on Rotten Tomatoes and 88% audience score. After its opening weekend, it fell short of box office expectations by earning $33.7 million, but it has since grossed over $185 million worldwide.
In PvNew’s review, film critic Tomris Laffly wrote, “It’s almost as if some imaginary figures were conceived with little consideration for their narrative purpose, and baked into the script just because they felt cool as ideas. Like many of the film’s attempts at humor, the animated characters fall flat, in desperate need of some coherent world-building.”
George Dewey, John J. Kelly, Andrew Form, Kimberly Nelson all served as the film’s producers. Michael Giacchino did the music.
