“The Sandman” is adding several new cast members to its already growing lineup for Season 2, and these actors will be playing characters introduced in fan-favorite storylines from Neil Gaiman’s beloved DC graphic novel series, including Ruairi O’Connor, who has been cast as the son of Tom Sturridge’s Dream.
Netflix announced on its Tudum website Tuesday that O’Connor will play Orpheus : “the poet, musician, and oracle, is the only child of Dream and the muse, Calliope (last seen in “The Sandman,” Episode 111). Orpheus is an idealistic, romantic, young man – and very much his father’s son – until tragedy strikes and reveals to him the true nature of love.”

Also joining “The Sandman” cast for Season 2, per Tudum, are Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan and Jack Gleeson as Puck, all characters featured in the “Season of Mists” arc from “The Sandman” graphic novels.
Additionally, Indya Moore will play Wanda and Steve Coogan will join as the voice of Barnabas the dog, two roles introduced in the “Brief Lives” storyline from the comics.
Per the Season 1 descriptionfor the series, “When the Sandman, aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) — the powerful cosmic being who controls all our dreams — is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for over a century, he must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.”
In May, Netflix revealed the first new castings for “The Sandman” Season 2: Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.” That trio of characters (who also play important parts in the “Season of Mists” and “Brief Lives” storylines) are the remaining members of “The Endless” family Dream is part of, and will join the returning siblings from Season 1, Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.
Other cast members who will be back for “The Sandman” Season 2 are Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, and Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall.
“The Sandman” is developed by Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer the DC comics of the same name by Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg. All episodes of Season 2 will be directed by Jamie Childs.
