The series, based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda, debuted in August 2023 and was renewed for a second season soon after. The live-action pirate series was created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by ITV Studios partner Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz serve as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers on the live-action series.
Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes and Steven Maeda also serve as executive producers. Maeda also served as co-showrunner with Owens last season, but stepped down for the second season and was replaced by “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” writer and co-executive producer Tracz.
