French-born, Spanish-based artist Manu Chao is set to release his next album — and his first since 2007 — on Sept. 20.

The upcoming new project, “Viva Tu,” is said to be “inspired by his travels and people’s daily lives,” with songs in Spanish, French, Portuguese and English, with collaborations from Willie Nelson on “Heaven’s Bad Day” and French singer Laeti on “Tu Te Vas.”

Chao shared the album’s second single, “São Paulo Motoboy,” just one month after the May release of the title song. The song is said to be a “brotherly tribute to all of the couriers in São Paulo risking their everyday lives as they ride their two-wheelers across the huge metropolis,” per a press release. The project, like its singles and matching music videos, will similarly address global issues andactivism. The video for “São Paulo Motoboy” features an immersive documentary depicting the daily life of “motoboys” in São Paulo.

Chao’s last full-length release came seven years ago with “La Radiolina.” However, he hardly remained inactive in that period, collaborating on projects with Bomba Estéreo, Rumbakana, Charlart58, Carlangas, Dani Lança and Calypso Rose, among others. He is also currently on a world tour, with stops in Spain, Italy and France scheduled through September.
