Don Omar announced on Instagram that he is currently battling cancer. The 46-year-old reggaeton pioneer took to social media to reveal his ongoing medical struggle. He wrote in a message: “Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer.” The post included a photo of his hospital wristband from a specialty hospital in Orlando. “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #fuckcancer,” he concluded.
The Puerto Rican star’s short Instagram caption did not disclose details of his diagnosis. PvNew has reached out to representatives of Don Omar for further comment.
Don Omar was one of the first major artists to globalize reggaeton with back-to-back hits that came with the release of his first studio album, “The Last Don,” in 2003. The latter included revolutionizing and defining reggaeton classics including the song “Dile” and “Dale Don Dale.” Among his other recognizable hits are “Danza Kudro,” “Pobre Diabla” and “Salió El Sol.”
