The other debut in the top 10 was DG Tech’s “Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil,” starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, with £217,528 at No. 6, continuing the impressive showing of India’s Malayalam-language cinema in the territory in recent months.

Coming up this weekend are two wide releases. After debuting at Cannes, the latest instalment in George Miller’s long-running film series, Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is opening in several formats including 2D, Imax, Dolby Atmos ST and Dolby Vision. It stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke. In the film, snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa falls into the hands of a biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, presided over by the Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa soon finds herself in a nonstop battle to make her way home.

Sony’s “The Garfield Movie” features the voice talents of Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames and Nicholas Hoult. In the film, Garfield has an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat who draws him into a high-stakes heist.

Verve Pictures is opening comedy “The Present,” starring Greg Kinnear and Isla Fisher, where a brilliant boy discovers that he can manipulate time using a family heirloom and teams with his siblings in returning to the time of their parents’ separation in the hope of changing the outcome.

Blue Finch Film Releasing is bowing 2023 Cannes title “In Flames,” where, after the death of the family patriarch, a mother and daughter’s precarious existence is ripped apart and must find strength in each other if they are to survive the malevolent forces that threaten to engulf them.

Conic is releasing Marija Kavtaradze’s Sundance winner “Slow” that follows dancer Elena and sign language interpreter Dovydas who form a beautiful bond. As they dive into a new relationship, they must navigate how to build their own kind of intimacy.
