Korea’s ‘Couple Palace’ Greenlighted for Second Season – Global Bulletin

SECOND MARRIAGE

Korea’s CJ ENM has given a second season commission to“Couple Palace,” its hit couple matching survival show. The show stars fifty men and fifty women from various backgrounds who unveil their detailed social status to search for ideal partners based on elements such as ideal marriage values, physical appearance, economic status, and lifestyle. It premiered on CJ ENM’s affiliate music channel Mnet in January 2024.

It was developed by star producers Lee Sun-young and Jeong Min-seok, known for their distinctive global achievements of“I Can See Your Voice”and“Love Catcher.”

“The sequel commission of‘Couple Palace’clearly demonstrates the fact that the show’s candid, yet profound portrayal of relationship dynamics associated with marriage has resonated with audiences from different circumstances and environments. We sincerely believe the show can further entice global fans’ interests once it is localized in multiple regions” said Sebastian Kim, director of CJ ENM’s international content sales.

Annie Shapero, best known for her role in Israeli series “Red Skies,” which won best drama series at Series Mania in 2023, is confirmed to have joined the cast of premium Australian series “The Narrow Road to the Deep North.” Having made a start in live theater, Shapero also recently appeared in FX pilot, “The Border,” adapted from the third book in Don Winslow’s bestselling Cartel Trilogy.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, “Narrow Road,” which stars Jacob Elordi, Ciaran Hinds and Odessa Young, is an adaptation of the Booker Prize-winning novel by Richard Flanaghan, which chronicles a century dominated by war, with the forced labor on the Thai-Burma Railway as its dramatic heart. The story is told by an Australian doctor who was taken prisoner during World War II and became an unlikely and uncomfortable hero after the war’s end.

The five-part series is love story set is produced by Curio Pictures with Prime Video releasing the title in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. In other territories,it distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Apple TV+ has acquired season two of hit, multilingual French-Japanese drama “Drops of God” from Legendary Entertainment and producers Les Productions Dynamic in association with 22H22 and Adline Entertainment. The streamer will release it worldwide excluding Japan.

In season two of “Drops of God,” Camille (portrayed by Fleur Geffrier) and Issei (Yamashita Tomohisa) once again face a nearly impossible challenge: to uncover the origin of the world’s most wonderful wine. Through a series of trials and tests, their quest will take them to far-flung corners of the globe, force them to face their inner demons, and change them forever.

Season two will be directed by Oded Ruskin(“No Man’s Land,” “Absentia”), who also directed the first season. Season one was created byQuoc Dang Tran (“Marianne,” “Parallel”) and produced by Klaus Zimmermann (“Trapped”).
