David Letterman to Interview Miley Cyrus and Charles Barkley as ‘My Next Guest’ Scores Season 5 Renewal at Netflix

“My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman” has been renewed for a fifth season at Netflix, which will consist of two episodes in which the venerated late night host interviews Miley Cyrus and Charles Barkley.

“They did shoot a pilot with another girl,” Cyrus says in the trailer, likely referring to “Hannah Montana,” the Disney Channel series that launched her career. Upon showing that pilot to a focus group, she continues with a smile, “They weren’t relating with her. I love them for that.”

“Open the face up,” Barkley tells Letterman, coaching him on his stance as they golf together. “Open your face up!” Letterman retorts.

Since “Hannah Montana,” Cyrus has become best known for her music career, spanning eight studio albums such as “Bangerz” (2013) and “Plastic Hearts” (2020). More recently, she released “Endless Summer Vacation” (2023), which featured the Grammy-winning single “Flowers” and featured on Beyoncé’s 2024 album “Cowboy Carter.” She also covered “Psycho Killer” on the 2024 album “Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.”

Since then, he has served as a basketball analyst on TNT.
