Copenhagen-based REinvent Intenational Sales has picked up the Danish-Korean pic “Hana Korea,” headlining “The Squid Game”’s Kim Joo-ryung and Minha Kim of Apple TV+’s “Pachinko.”
Sharon Choi, “Parasite” director Bong Joon-ho’sinterpreter and close collaborator, has boarded the project as co-writer. Produced by Sonntag Pictures’ Sara Stockmann (“Armadillo”, “Bobbi Jene”) with Seesaw Pictures’Heejung Oh(“Pearl of the Desert”), the hybrid project is due to start lensingin Korea this coming August.
Danish documentary filmmaker Frederik Sølberg (“Doel”) will be making his fiction debut with the story of a young North Korean refugee’s pursuit of happiness in South Korea. Hyesun must confront the challenges of letting go of her past while adjusting to her new life.
based on the true life of a young North Korean defector,the film will reconstruct her life, using fiction techniques and actorsto protect her identity.
