Netflix’s rom-com “Mother of the Bride” and Will Forte crime drama series “Bodkin” led the Luminate streaming originals chart for the week of May 10-16, elbowing past higher-profile competition.
Two buzzy streaming original movies — Netflix’s “Unfrosted” and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Idea of You” — held up well in their second full week in release. The Jake Gyllenhaal starrer “Road House” continues to be a work horse for Prime Video, which confirmed earlier this week that a second installment is in development. A surprise on the original film chart was Netflix documentary “Living with Leopards,” which debuted at No. 7.
“Bodkin,” which revolves around a podcast crew that comes to investigate the disappearance of three people from a small town in Ireland years before, moved swiftly up the original streaming series chart, passing Netflix’s “A Man in Full.” The Jeff Daniels’ starrer came in at No. 2 in its second full week in release. “Bridgerton’s” six-episode third season dropped May 16, the final day of the frame, and generated about 695,000 views — a respectable but not spectacular showing for the lush Regency-era costume drama. On the flip side, the arrival of new “Bridgerton” episodes drove fans to revisit the previous two seasons. “Bridgerton” Season 2 and Season 1 climbed solidly to take the No. 10 and No. 11 slots on the series chart.
Original movie “Mother of the Bride” made a connection with viewers during the week that encompassed Mother’s Day, garnering a total of 975.8 million minutes watched, or about 11.1 million views. The movie, helmed by Mark Waters, features a multi-generational friendly ensemble cast that includes Brooke Shields, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove and Chad Michael Murray. The pic’s biggest audience of the May 10-16 frame came on Mother’s Day, May 12, when it logged about 2.6 million views.

“The Idea of You,” the sexy rom-com starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, dropped 55% in its second full week in release to the No. 2 spot with about 2.7 million views. The pic bowed last week at No. 1 with about 6.2 million views.
“Unfrosted,” the Jerry Seinfeld-led film about the development of Pop Tarts, also held up well in its second week, falling 57% to No. 3 with about 3.1 million views. Prime Video’s “Road House” is still hanging tough, rising one notch from the previous week to No. 4 spot after nearly eight weeks in release.
British doc “Living with Leopards,” which chronicles the life to two leopard cubs, burst onto the chart at No. 7 with about 639,800 views.

On the series side, "Bodkin" generated in 537.6 million minutes viewed, or about 1.5 million views across seven episodes, in its first full week on Netflix following its May 9 debut. The series hails from British showrunner Jez Scharf and the Obamas' Higher Ground Prods.
"A Man in Full" slid 59% week-to-week to come in at No. 2 with 434.5 million minutes viewed. Netflix's "Baby Reindeer" rode the buzz swirling around the true-crime drama to No. 3, up a notch from last week, with 330.5 million minutes viewed. Prime Video's vidgame adaptation "Fallout" is also showing strong hold, clinging to No. 4 after more than a month in release with 326.5 million minutes viewed.
In week two, Netflix's John Mulaney comedy series, "John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA," took at 235% jump from its premiere week, coming in with about 427,000 views. The series encompasses six episodes that were initiatlly streamed live, one a day, from May 3-10 as part of the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles.
