The first look at Season 2 of “The Last of Us” was unveiled on Wednesday featuring stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. HBO and Max chief Casey Bloys debuted the images during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation in New York City.
The show chronicles the story of Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey) as they navigate a world overrun with zombies infected with a parasitic fungus — not to mention the ruthless vigilantes, mercenaries and cannibals just as desperate to survive. Just as the first season of “The Last of Us” was adapted from the acclaimed 2013 video game of the same title, Season 2 of the series is expected to follow the events of its 2020 sequel, “The Last of Us Part II,” which deals with the fallout from Joel’s actions in the season 1 finale.
Along with Pascal and Ramsey, other returning cast include Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother, Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Tommy’s wife, Maria, while Kaitlyn Dever (“Booksmart”), Isabela Merced (“Transformers: The Last Knight”), Young Mazino (“Beef”), Ariela Barer (“Runaways”), Tati Gabrielle (“Uncharted”), Spencer Lord (“Family Law”) and Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick”) are joining the show, with Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara appearing as a guest star.

The second season of “The Last of Us” is set to premiere in 2025.
