Esperanza Spalding Plots 12-Night Residency at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club

Esperanza Spalding, the five-time Grammy winner and bass virtuoso, is returning to New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club with a 12-night residency in early 2025.

Spalding will play two shows each night — that’s 24 shows total — from Feb. 18 to 23 and from Feb. 25 to March 2. As per usual with the Blue Note, the first set will begin at 8 p.m. and the second will start at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Spalding’s set will feature music from across her genre-bending discography, consisting of eight studio albums and two live albums, as well as collaborations with Wayne Shorter, Q-Tip and Janelle Monáe. This run of dates will follow the tour Spalding announced last week, which kicks off May 26 in Columbus, Ohio, and wraps in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 15.

Kicking off the summer, the Blue Note Jazz Festival, running June 1 to early July, will feature performances across New York City at venues ranging from Sony Hall, Central Park’s SummerStage, Town Hall and Brooklyn Bowl. The lineup boasts newer voices like Andra Day and Corrine Bailey Rae as well as jazz legends like Wynton Marsalis. Glasper, who recently held his fifth annual “Robtober” residency at the Blue Note last October, will host the inaugural Black Radio Experience at the Blue Note Jazz Festival Napa, running from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.
