The second season of the game show “Lingo” hosted by RuPaul Charles has set its premiere date at CBS, PvNew has learned.
The series will return on May 24 with two back-to-back episodes airing from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. ET/PT. It will then air at 8 p.m. on Fridays for the remainder of the season. Episodes will be available live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers or the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.
In “Lingo,” teams of two compete against each other in puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal words. In a new twist for the second season, the winner of each episode will compete in the next episode for potentially bigger cash prizes.
Charles serves as host and executive producer via RuCo, Inc. along with Layla Smith and Jilly Pearce for Objective Media Group. Ed de Burgh and Paul Wright serve as executive producers for Triple Brew Media. “Lingo” is an All3Media / IDTV and Talpa TV format, distributed by All3Media International.
This is now the fourth iteration of “Lingo” to air in the United States. The format initially aired in syndication in the mid-1980s with hosts Michael Reagan and Ralph Andrews. It was then revived at the Game Show Network in 2002 and was hosted by Chuck Woolery. A second revival debuted in 2011 hosted by comedian Bill Engvall. The RuPaul-hosted version originally debuted on CBS in January 2023.
International versions of the game have aired across the world, including in France, Slovenia, Germany, Turkey, and Indonesia.
