Matthew McConaughey will narrate the new 3D documentary “Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels,” set for release April 12 on Imax and other giant screen theaters.
The doc from MacGillivray Freeman Films details the inner workings of the human body and reveals scientific breakthroughs that are changing the nature of of health, medical treatment and wellness. The documentary explores the rapid pace of innovation in recent decades through the stories of people who have benefitted from groundbreaking innovations and the scientists and bioengineers behind the breakthroughs.
“Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels” introduces audiences to the science behind different medical advancements like CAR T-cell immunotherapy, which is used to treat blood cancers like leukemia.
“The inner workings of the human body are astonishing and complex, and audiences will be fascinated to learn about its resilience and ability to bounce back with the help of the exciting new medical innovations seen in ‘Superhuman Body,’” McConaughey said in a statement.
Greg MacGillivray, “Superhuman Body” director and chairman of MacGillivray Freeman Films, called the Oscar-winning actor “a super talent” and asserted that his skill as a narrator will add warmth and personality to the film.
The documentary will be accompanied by an outreach and education program designed to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators. Programming will include virtual learning experiences, a social media campaign to promote science and health and educational materials that will be distributed in classrooms, virtual settings and science centers.
Distribution for the film will include a theatrical run in Imax and giant screen theatres located in museums and science centers as well as distribution on television and streaming broadcast services.
