Pete Davidson’s Peacock Comedy ‘Bupkis’ Will Not Return for a Season 2 Despite Renewal

“Bupkis” Season 2 is bupkis. Star Pete Davidson has confirmed that he has opted not to continue with his semi-autobiographical Peacock comedy, which had previously been renewed for a second season.

“I’ve always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” Davidson said ina. statement. “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I’ve ever done, Bupkis is by far what I’m most proud of. I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt. I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”

Davidson wrote the series with showrunner Judah Miller as well as Dave Sirus. All three serve as executive producers alongsideLorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Erin David. Universal Television is the studio, and Michaels’ Broadway Video produces.

Edie Falco and Joe Pesci also starred in “Bupkis,” in which Davidson played a version of himself “as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships.” The series premiered on May 4, 2023, and ran for eight episodes.

Guest stars on the half-hour series included La La Anthony, Carly Aquilino, Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly), Josh Bitton, Preston Brodrick, Steve Buscemi, Bobby Cannavale, Kevin Corrigan, Nadia Dajani, Charlamagne Tha God, Charlie Day, Philip Ettinger, Derek Gaines, Brad Garrett, Al Gore, Paul Walter Hauser, Lynne Koplitz, Loulou Lazarus, Sunita Mani, John Mulaney, John Pollono, Delaney Quinn, Simon Rex, Oona Roche, Ray Romano, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Jon Stewart, Kenan Thompson, Ricky Velez, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Chase Sui Wonders.

“Pete, Lorne and the entire ‘Bupkis’ team took audiences on a wild and emotionally captivating adventure in Season 1; from family weddings to drug-fueled road trips to lonely holidays on set, these authentic, outrageous, and emotionally candid escapades gave viewers the good, the bad and the real that comes with stardom,” Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, said last year when the show was originally renewed.
