The series follows Percy on a dangerous quest as he journeys across America to return Zeus’ (Lance Reddick) master bolt and stop an all-out war. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth and his best friend Grover, Percy’s journey lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, and find out who he’s destined to be.
The show is based on Riordan’s beloved young-adult fantasy book series, which consists of five novels. The book series was previously adapted into two films, 2010’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and 2013’s “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” with Logan Lerman in the title role.
“Possessing enticing pacing, riveting physicality and history lessons on the Greek gods, the show captures the dizzying but brilliant tone of the preteen years while setting a foundation for what future projects centering on Gen Z and Gen Alpha can be,” PvNew TV critic Aramide Tinubu wrote in her review of the show.
Season 1 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is available to stream on Disney+.
