The upcoming weekend there are two challengers to the throne occupied by “Dune: Part II,” both releasing wide. Sony is opening “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” where the Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse where the original Ghostbusters have taken ghost-busting to the next level. The cast includes Mckenna Grace, Annie Potts, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Bill Murray, Kumail Nanjiani, Celeste O’Connor and Dan Aykroyd.

Also contending for pole position will be Black Bear’s “Imacculate,” where an American nun embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbors a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors. Sydney Sweeney, Álvaro Morte, Simona Tabasco and Benedetta Porcaroli lead the cast.

On the occasion of Nowruz, or Persian New Year, Sony is opening Maryam Keshavarz’s “The Persian Version” wide. It follows Leila, an Iranian-American woman who strives to find balance and embrace her opposing cultures. When her large family reunites in New York City for her father’s heart transplant, she keeps everyone at arm’s length – until a secret is revealed.

Icon is releasing 2023 London Film Festival title “Baltimore,” also known as “Rose’s War,” based on the life of Rose Dugdale, a former debutante who rebelled against her wealthy upbringing, becoming a volunteer in the militant Irish republican organization, the Provisional Irish Republican Army.

Vertigo is opening Sitges winner “Late Night With The Devil,” where a live television broadcast in 1977 goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into living rooms. Curzon is opening Annecy-winning and Oscar nominated animation “Robot Dreams,” while Zee Studios International is bowing biopic “Swatantra Veer Savarkar.”

Park Circus is releasing the 4K restored version of Martin Scorsese’s “After Hours.”
