Film and media companyBuffalo 8has acquired worldwide distribution rights to “Dig Me No Grave” from Djonny Chen’s prolific U.K.-based outfit Silent D Pictures. The deal was revealed at the Berlin European Film Market (EFM).
“Dig Me No Grave” follows the harrowing journey of an ageing hunter who embarks on a final quest for an elusive elk. His seemingly routine expedition takes a nightmarish turn when he becomes ensnared beneath the immense weight of a bear. Days of desperate survival ensue until a mysterious stranger rescues him, leading to intense events in the unforgiving wilderness.
The cast includes Warren Lee Hicks (“Renegades”), James Bryhan (“Shadow and Bone”) and Mark Strange (“B.R.I.”). The film is directed by Ranjeet S. Marwa (“Spring Lakes”) and written by Gary A. Piazza.
Silent D Pictures produces alongside Marwa’s Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures, with Matthew Helderman (“Clerks III”) and Luke Taylor (“Dual”) from Buffalo 8 serving as executive producers.
Meanwhile, Austrian international distribution company Fizz-e-Motion and Warsaw and Los Angeles based distributor Sonovision are representing psychological thriller “Daemon Mind” at the EFM.
In the film, top Indonesian actor Acha Septriasa (“Anwar: The Untold Story”) plays a brilliant, but deeply traumatized neurotheologist, who, after the mysterious death of her brother, dedicates her life to the study of human consciousness. Experimenting with mental frequencies, she frees her Daemon, or inner voice, which becomes her guide, adviser, and ultimately her accuser, as she embarks on a series of vengeful murders. The concept was partly inspired by the Persinger Device or ‘God Helmet’ that was developed by scientists to create a spiritual experience in test subjects.
Written and directed by Jason Fité (“Strangers and Neighbours”), “Daemon Mind” was made with the support of the BFI’s Film Fund. It was filmed across London locations and is due for international theatrical distribution later this year.
The cast also includes Jasmine Blackborow (“Shadow and Bone”), Sam Marks (“Doctor Who”), Zephryn Taitte (“Call the Midwife”) and Aden Gillett (“The Crown”).
Publicity on both projects is being handled by Philippe Ashfield at Instant Entertainment.
Other films that are currently in production at Silent Dinclude “High Wire,”featuring emerging star from Hong Kong, Isabella Wei; and“Influenced!,” a black comedyset in the world of social media influencers inspired by Oscar Wilde’s classic 1891 novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” headlined by Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch.
