Britney Spears is all for Justin Timberlake‘s musical comeback, despite what her fans may think.
In a Sunday night post on her Instagram (which is now private), Spears praised Timberlake’s new song, “Selfish,” while also apologizing for “some of the things” she wrote in her memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry,” Spears wrote alongside a video of Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon performing the song on the host’s “Classroom Instruments” segment. “I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish.’It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wowtoo.”
Spears’ compliments come after her fans trolled Timberlake on Friday by running her 2011 song “Selfish” up the charts. Spears’ “Selfish” hit No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, outperforming Timberlake’s new track just one day after its release.
Spears’ fans have long held a vendetta against Timberlake, who the “Toxic” singer dated from 1999 to 2002, but it was reignited with the release of Spears’ memoir. In her book, Spears revealed that she had an abortion during their relationship.
“Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young,” Spears wrote. “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
