LosBukis have set a residency in Las Vegas that will kick off later this May at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Their 15-night stay marks the first all-Spanish-language residency on the Strip, according to a press release issued by Live Nation and MGM Resorts International.
Starting May 3, “LosBukis: The Las Vegas Residency” will take over the Las Vegas Strip through Sept. 21. The show is said to be custom-designed for Dolby Live, “giving fans an intimate concert experience in the 5,200-seat entertainment venue.”
This stint follows the band’s 2021 tour which reunited the Mexican Grupera band — led by Marco Antonio Solís, also endearingly known as “El Buki” — after a 25-year hiatus. The trek, which sold out stadiums across the United States, landed at No. 6 on Billboard‘s 2021 year-end Boxscore charts with a total gross of $49,667,153 and was the highest-grossing Latin tour of 2021.
The group, whose hits include 1993’s “Acepto Mi Derrota,” continued touring through 2022 for international dates. “Being on tour and having the ‘Bukamania’ revival — that’s an audience that was really very anxious to see us,” Solís previously told PvNew. “Some had lost that hope of ever seeing us and honestly, we did too. None of it had been pre-mediated, we had no idea that the reunion was coming. It was the pandemic that allowed us that time to get together again and start writing, all while at home, of course. It came from a place of gratitude for life, for the fans and just overall joy that we can still do this.”
