UPDATED: Fast-rising Bronx-born rapper and PvNew cover star Ice Spice has signed with WME for international representation in all areas, PvNew has /confirm/ied; a rep for Ice Spice confirms that Cara Lewis and C Lewis Group represent the rapper in North America and Canada.
Just 23 years old, the rapper has enjoyed an unusually rapid rise since breaking out on TikTok two years ago. Driven by the singles “Munch (Feelin’ U),” “In Ha Mood” and “Deli,” she signed a joint deal with 10K Projects and Capitol Records last year and dropped her debut EP, “Like..?” in January, followed by a deluxe edition several months later. In this year alone she has been endorsed by and performed in concert with Taylor Swift; collaborated with Nicki Minaj for a song on the soundtrack to the summer blockbuster “Barbie” film; scored a lucrative endorsement with Dunkin; vaulted PinkPantheress’ song “Boy’s a Liar” into one of the biggest singles of the year by appearing on a remix; performed on “Saturday Night Live” and the MTV VMAs; and, not least appeared on the cover of PvNew with an expansive interview.
Her confidence has carried her a long way. “People be trying to act like I’m dumb, and I’m just like, I’m a marketing fucking genius,” she says in PvNew’s cover story. “I feel like that just comes from being from New York, having to be quick on your feet, having to be witty and having a fast comeback. Having so many siblings and cousins just gave me that smartass mouth that I have and being able to react quickly. I think people with a smartass mouth make for good marketers.”
