The Anne Rice Immortal Universe continues to progress at AMC Networks, with “Mayfair Witches” heading into production on its second season and adding new actors to its cast while “Interview With the Vampire” has set its Season 2 premiere date and added a guest cast.
Alyssa Jirrels has joined “Mayfair Witches” Season 2 as a series regular, playing Moira Mayfair. Moira is Rowan Fielding’s (Alexandra Daddario) cousin and a mind reader who blames the family and Lasher (Jack Huston) for the death of her sister Tessa (Madison Wolfe). As a recurring guest star, Ted Levine will play as Julien Mayfair, Cortland’s (Harry Hamlin) father, a master manipulator and diabolical presence that haunts the family. Thora Birch guest stars as Gifford Mayfair, a self-deprecating tarot card reader and wannabe-bohemian who lately spends a lot of time at her lake house.
Season 2 of “Mayfair Witches” is currently in production in New Orleans and will debut later in 2024.
Jirrel’s prominent credits include Paramount+’s “Fatal Attraction,” Netflix’s “Boo Bitch” and the Selena Gomez-produced film “This is the Year.” Levine is best known for The Silence of the Lambs and “Monk,” and has more recently appeared in “Big Sky,” “On Becoming a God in Central Florida” and “Tiny Beautiful Things.” Birch is known for “American Beauty,” “Hocus Pocus,” “The Walking Dead” and more.
“Interview With the Vampire” will debut its second season on May 12. David Costabile — known for “Breaking Bad,” “Billions” and “Suits” — will guest star as Leonard, a seasoned TV personality who has a run-in with Molloy (Eric Bogosian). Recurring guest stars this season will also include Roxane Duran (“The White Ribbon,” “Riviera” as Madeleine and Bally Gill (“Sherwood,” “Slow Horses”) as Real Rashid.
Also in the Anne Rice universe is a series in development that, if greenlit, will be “set in the world of the Talamasca, a secretive organization featured in a number of Rice’s iconic novels that is devoted to studying the supernatural world and keeping mortals safe from its darkest elements.” John Lee Hancock serves as writer and executive producer.
“The beloved world created by Anne Rice continues to be a vast and exciting source of story and character for us to explore, develop and bring to life on screen,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks. “We look forward to sharing second seasons of both ‘Interview’ and ‘Mayfair,’ two visually stunning productions that feature exciting new elements from Rice’s novels, with an audience and fanbase that have embraced these series and unforgettable characters from the beginning. Beyond the existing shows, we’re actively developing a potential third series in this expanding franchise, with the incomparable John Lee Hancock crafting a story based on Rice’s captivating Talamasca society.”
