Lance Bass believes fans should forgive Justin Timberlake amid the backlash his former NSYNC bandmate has been getting following the release of Britney Spears‘ memoir “The Woman in Me.”
Spears and Timberlake started dating in 1999, when Spears was 17 years old and Timberlake was 18, and separated in 2002. In her memoir, Spears details the early days of her relationship with Timberlake, as well as a few setbacks she endured when they were together, writing, “There were a couple of times in our relationship when I knew Justin had cheated on me.”
On Saturday, TMZ shared footage of Bass at Los Angeles International Airport, in which Bass reveals his thoughts on the backlash against Timberlake.
“Look, I mean everyone has their own opinion,” Bass said. “I just feel like the world is so full of hate right now that we need to practice a little forgiveness. Britney did, so let’s take a note from her.”
The former NSYNC singer shared that he already purchased Spears’ memoir and was planning to “read it on the plane.”
“Everyone deserves to tell their story,” Bass added. “She did and, you know, I hope the fans can again find some forgiveness.”
In addition to the cheating allegations made against Timberlake, Spears makes other revelations about her relationship with the “Cry Me a River” singer, including the abortion she had after she became pregnant with his baby.
“Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young,” Spears writes in her book.
